The long awaited and much anticipated joint Federal and New South Wales Government study into aviation capacity in the Sydney region was released last Friday.
A steering committee comprising experts from the Federal and State Government, business and tourism leaders has delivered a comprehensive assessment that reveals the urgent necessity for improved infrastructure to meet the needs of the New South Wales and Australian economies.
Critically, the report recommends the need for an increase of the eighty movement an hour cap at Sydney Airport in addition to the construction of a new airport facility in the Sydney basin, two issues that the Tourism Industry Council NSW has been calling upon Government to recognise.
This report also outlines the impacts of doing nothing and how Sydney and New South Wales would effectively drag down the national economy, potentially wiping off up to $34 Billion in lost GDP and $59.5Billion in foregone expenditure without the upgrade of air capacity into Sydney and New South Wales.
