HOSTPLUS Sydney Partnership Dinner

October 28, 2011 · by ADMIN · Past Industry Events

Superannuation fund HOSTPLUS held its Sydney Partnership Dinner on Thursday October 27 at the Hilton Hotel.

HOSTPLUS are a strong supporter of the industry with a large and expanding customer base in the tourism and hospitality sectors across New South Wales.

The Dinner was attended by many of our State’s industry leaders with keynote speakers including Kevin Sheedy, the former Essendon coaching legend and Senior Coach of the Greater Western Sydney Giants AFL Club and Rod McGeoch, a Board Member of Destination New South Wales.

Mr. McGeoch gave the audience a fascinating insight into his experiences as the Head of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Bid Team, his roles in the promotion of the Athens Games, the 2012 London Olympic Bid and the organising committee for the recent New Zealand Rugby World Cup.

Now a Board Member of Destination NSW, he passionately spoke about the tasks and challenges of promoting Sydney and New South Wales and spoke positively about the role of the O’Farrell Government and the setting up of the Visitor Economy Taskforce with the aim to double overnight visitor expenditure by 2020.

As someone who had travelled and worked extensively overseas, he reminded the gathering that we all had a role play to positively promote the attributes of Sydney and New South Wales, particularly with a challenging inbound market that has been impacted by economic concerns overseas and the strength of the Australian Dollar.
