Membership

The Tourism Industry Council of NSW (TICNSW) is the only independent voice for the tourism industry of NSW. It represents more than 7,000 tourism business with no fewer than 20,000 employees across all sectors of the industry – one of the most important of all industries in the state.

What do we do?

TICNSW provides a voice for the industry at Local, State and Federal Government levels. The Board Chairman has regular meetings with the Minister and Tourism NSW Executive Director. TICNSW also has representation on three NSW Ministerial Taskforces, and have a seat at the National Tourism Alliance (NTA) Board table – the peak industry body nationally.

TICNSW conduct the annual NSW Tourism Industry Awards, managing the complete judging process and conducting the Gala Awards Presentation Dinner. Additionally TICNSW conducts the annual NSW Tourism Industry Conference in conjunction with Tourism NSW and two annual Tourism Managers Exchanges; educational and information workshops for the professionally employed Tourism Managers and their senior staff.

TICNSW provides a timely “State of the State” audit and analysis of current issues affecting sustainability of the State’s vital tourism industry – the largest in the country. The research report highlights and analyses trends and opportunities in the tourism industry, which makes a contribution of $10.8 billion, or 4.5% to Gross State Product in New South Wales, and provides 185,000 direct jobs or 6.1% of total employment in NSW. Providing a clear picture of tourism in the State, the report is provided to both government and private sectors to edify, educate and illuminate areas for appropriate change.

TICNSW is the Master Provider for AussieHost Customer Service Training for the tourism industry in NSW coordinating and conducting regular training programs throughout the state.

Who are we?

Members of the TICNSW include individuals, small, medium and large businesses, regional tourism and information offices, state based industry and trade associations, government agencies and other companies and associations who have an interest in tourism thoughout New South Wales. Some of the largest and most prominent tourism operators in Australia are proud and enthusiastic members of TICNSW. The TICNSW Board is made up of heads of Associations and private sector senior management.
